Bangladesh Drug Regulator General of Drug Administration has assigned Beximco Pharmaceuticals to import the vaccine. According to media sources in Bangladesh, the first phase will be 6 months of vaccination. After that, in the second phase, Beximco will import 50 million vaccines per month.
According to the report, DGDA Deputy Director Mohammad Salauddin said Beximco Pharmaceuticals would be able to import vaccines from India. Initially, they will import vaccines as per the demand of the government. After that, the vaccine can be provided only if the government approves.
On Monday this week, the government issued the Covishield vaccine no-objection certificate on an emergency basis. The British government on Wednesday approved the use of the Covishield vaccine. Then on Friday, the Bangladesh Drug Regulatory General approved the import of vaccines.
Serum Institute of India Oxford is a local manufacturer of astrageneca. In November last year, Bangladesh signed an agreement with the Serum Institute of India. Beximco Pharmaceuticals will collect 30 million Covishield vaccines on its basis.
On the other hand, the report said that the drug regulator General of the Drug Administration has approved the clinical trial of the vaccine manufactured by Globe Biotech Limited. Whose name is Bongavax.
