Battlegrounds Mobile India: Everything We Know About It So Far

Battlegrounds Mobile India has become hype for PUBG fans in India since the day this game was announced by Krafton, that is, earlier in May. The popular battle royale game opened its doors to the waiting fans for pre-registration in India on May 18, but only for Android devices. It is set to launch soon but the date is not yet declared but meanwhile, Krafton, Battleground Mobile India’s developer, has unveiled plenty of details through its official website and social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. These details include maps, privacy policy, restrictions in the game, rewards, and much more. There have come multiple rumors about the release date of Battlegrounds Mobile India from credible sources but nothing has been said by the developers. According to several reports and tips, the day Battlegrounds Mobile India will hit the Play Store for download will be either June 10th or June 18th.

Here’s how. A cryptic teaser released on Battlegrounds Mobile India’s social media pages hinted that it will be released in June. Moreover, the teaser poster released on May 9 pictures a solar eclipse on a level 3 PUBG helmet. This could imply that the launch date might coincide with the upcoming solar eclipse, that is, on 10th June. Krafton has not yet disclosed much about the game and how it is similar to PUBG Mobile, an issue that developers have worked on for months since the ban on PUBG in India. But the game’s Play Store link and the various teasers and posters posted on Battlegrounds Mobile India social media pages quenches some thirst of the game’s fans. Battlegrounds Mobile India pre-registration has already taken Indian players by storm on Google Play Store. So, it’s certain that the game is launching on Android devices.

But Krafton has not yet cleared anything about the release of Battlegrounds Mobile India on iOS devices. A report from IGN India and some credible sources stated that the developers are working on launching Battlegrounds Mobile India for iOS devices too. Considering the fact that the game is almost a modified variant of PUBG Mobile which was always available for iOS platforms across the world, it is very likely that Battlegrounds Mobile India will do the same. We all remember very well that the PUBG Mobile Lite version was launched in India, meant for Android phones with low processing power. However, Battlegrounds Mobile India will probably not follow suit. IGN India reported that Krafton may not release a Lite version of Battlegrounds Mobile India ever. There are several probable reasons for that. One is that the system requirement for Battlegrounds Mobile India is already on the lower side.

So smartphones with low RAM, as low as 2GB, can also play the game smoothly. That’s why it doesn’t make any sense to make a Lite version of Battlegrounds Mobile India. The Google Play Store’s description for Battlegrounds Mobile India says: “Set in a virtual world, Battlegrounds Mobile India is a battle royale game where multiple players employ strategies to fight and be the last man standing on the battlegrounds. A free-to-play, multiplayer experience, in Battlegrounds Mobile India, players can battle it out in diverse game modes which can be squad-based or even one-on-one.” This implies that the game is more or less similar to PUBG Mobile in terms of gameplay. In fact, Battlegrounds Mobile India’s teasers too have shown signature PUBG elements such as the Level-3 helmet, the game’s blue energy drinks, the parachute, and even the bullet-deflecting pan.

Apart from the name change, Battlegrounds Mobile India does look like a rename of the PUBG Mobile India game. Here is a hint. The Battlegrounds Mobile India’s Play Store page URL includes the words PUBG Mobile. Convinced? However, Krafton is trying not to cue links with PUBG Mobile and appears to avoid the similarities, probably to make sure that Battlegrounds Mobile India does not follow the same fate as PUBG Mobile did in the end. But the teasers say otherwise. They have shown that Battlegrounds Mobile India is likely to use PUBG Mobile maps. Furthermore, a new teaser from this week depicted a map that looked similar to the default PUBG Mobile map but was titled ‘Erangle’ instead of Erangel. In a different teaser poster, Krafton has showcased the Ban Tai area from PUBG Mobile’s Sanhok map, suggesting that the game will also contain the Sanhok map of PUBG.

But this buzz can lead Krafton to rename the Sanhok map for Battlegrounds Mobile India in order to avoid all links to PUBG Mobile and risk getting the game banned in India. Krafton has announced that if you pre-register for Battlegrounds Mobile India, you will get four exclusive rewards, the Recon Outfit, the Recon Mask, Celebration Expert Title, and 300 AG; resulting in mass registration from all over India. Subsequently, a lot of content creators claimed that players will be able to bring over their inventory from PUBG Mobile to Battlegrounds Mobile India. But this is not true. A report from IGN India told that players of Battlegrounds Mobile India cannot carry their saved data from PUBG Mobile. So players will have no choice but to build their profile from the beginning.

Battlegrounds Mobile India Features

While a data transfer between Krafton and Tencent may not have been totally out of the question, but considering how keen Krafton is to avoid all ties of the game from PUBG Mobile and show Battlegrounds Mobile India as a separate entity and not as a PUBG Mobile derivative, a data transfer between the two games could negate all of Krafton’s consistent efforts. PUBG Mobile players are aware of the fact that their players used to land half-naked in the game. But Battlegrounds Mobile India will not use this similar plot. According to inside sources, Battlegrounds Mobile India will have outfits for players and their bodies will always be fully covered. This might be because at the time of PUBG Mobile, nudity was a big issue for Indian parents. In a nutshell, Battlegrounds Mobile India is expected to be more cultured or sanskari in India.

Moreover, Indian parents also had a problem with all the violence and bloodshed in PUBG Mobile which was really too much. They thought it will affect their children’s mental health. So Krafton decided that Battlegrounds Mobile India will not have bloodshed. If someone is killed in the game, the players will see a green liquid draining out of the character’s body instead of red blood. Now coming to the privacy policy declared by Krafton’s Battlegrounds Mobile India. There are a few restrictions for children playing under the age of 18. Among these, the most important one is that players under 18 years will need the consent of their parents before playing Battlegrounds Mobile India. They will have to enter their parents’ mobile numbers in order to verify the consent. Another noteworthy restriction is that minors cannot play Battlegrounds Mobile India for more than three hours per day.

This is taken keeping in mind the parent’s concerns. Also, these minors will not be able to get in-app purchases worth more than Rs 7000 in the game. Battlegrounds Mobile India is limited to the Indian market only. So it is not available for download in other countries. This means that players cannot play Battlegrounds Mobile India with other players outside of India. This is a huge con for players. However, it is not yet decided if Krafton will allow Battlegrounds Mobile India players to play with PUBG Mobile global players or not.
