Bhoot Police, the much-awaited movie made under the genre of horror-comedy has released its first look along with a release date for the OTT platform. The movie stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Saif Ali Khan among others and was earlier decided to be released in cinemas but due to the prevailing pandemic, the makers opted for an OTT release. Bhoot Police is set to premiere on September 17, 2021, on Disney+ Hotstar as the platform announced the date along with a new poster where all the actors can be seen and captioned, “Ab baari hai bhooton ke darne ki! #BhootPolice arriving this 17th September on #DisneyPlusHotstarMultiplex.” Bhoot Police is a forthcoming Indian Hindi-language horror comedy that stars big actors like Arjun Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan among others. Ramesh Taurani and Akshay Puri are the producers while the movie is directed by Pavan Kriplani.
Other actors of Bhoot Police include Yami Gautam and Jacqueline Fernandez who play the lead roles. Reserved to release on Disney+ Hotstar OTT service, Bhoot Police’s cinematography is done by Jaya Krishna Gummadi while it is a co-production between Tips Industries and 12 Street Entertainment. The film started in November last year with its principal photography in Dharmashala. We have deemed that Bhoot Police is based on a horror-comedy theme by all the posters and actors’ looks disclosed so far. Saif Ali Khan’s character’s personality is seen to be spooky with a quirky outfit in a few sneak peeks. In the poster released by the digital platform, Saif and Yami are prepped up for a mission with their ‘ ghost-busting’ weapons. On the other hand, Arjun Kapoor seems to work on chants while Jacqueline is seen posing for a selfie nonchalantly.
Earlier this week, the makers of Bhoot Police disclosed how their cast looks in the film. Saif’s character’s name is Vibhooti, while Jacqueline plays Kanika, Arjun plays Chiraunji, and Yami plays an enigmatic character named Maya in the movie directed by Pavan Kirpalani. In the supporting cast, we have profound actors like Alexx O’Nell, Javed Jaffrey as well as Jamie Lever. Reports claim that Bhoot Police started shooting back in November 2020 in the state of Himachal Pradesh and then Jaisalmer. Pavan Kriplani, the director of the upcoming horror comedy said in a statement, “I am thrilled to have Saif and Arjun come together for this entertaining feature. Both of them will be seen bringing their trademark fun elements to the brand new avatars they will portray in this film.”
Telling ETimes more about his film’s release he added, “Look, I was supposed to release ‘Bhoot Police’ in September 2021. I felt that it would be better in the present scenario if I stick to my original month. So yes, Bhoot Police will be released on OTT mostly in September or October.” While the producer of the film Ramesh Taurani stated in an interview that they had to opt for an OTT release as cinema halls will probably open after November, and even then with only half the capacity. So OTT release was their best shot. Bhoot Police has Saif Ali Khan in the frontline playing Vibhooti, a wacky ghostbuster, as per his look. Yami Gautam and Javed Jaffrey will also be seen playing important roles. Jacqueline Fernandez and Arjun Kapoor are the other two lead actors that run the movie. Moreover, the audience will see Nazeera Khan playing the role of Harleen Sahani.
Bhoot Police was announced in the year 2019, but with an altogether different set of actors. The initial cast reportedly contained Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Sheikh, but when the shooting got postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Fox Star Studios pulled out the strings. Subsequently. producers Ramesh Taurani and Akshay Puri saw potential in the project and decide to produce it. But the cast had to be changed and that’s when Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Yami Gautam, and Javed Jaffery came into the picture (pun intended). Although Saif Ali Khan remained in both the cast sets. The makers of the esteemed horror-comedy project have disclosed the release date this Friday.
Bhoot Police can be seen on Disney+ Hotstar premiering on September 17 this year and anybody with a subscription to the OTT platform can watch it from anywhere from the release date onwards. On the other hand, actor Yami Gautam on Thursday took to Instagram to reveal her first look from the movie and took us all by surprise with her enigmatic appearance. She captioned her look, “To enchant all with her charm arrives MAYA, in #BhootPolice. Coming soon on @disneyplushotstarvip.” The plot of the much-awaited movie is still not clear although speculations are crawling all over the internet. No official synopsis has been released yet but we are expecting it to be soon. From the sneak peeks, the first looks of the cast, and other posters, a rough idea of the plot of Bhoot Police can be elicited.
It is easy to understand that the movie will follow Vibhooti, the character played by Saif who looks like a supernatural hunter or rather a “Ghostbuster”. The Bollywood movie is inspired by the Hollywood creation ‘Ghostbusters’ and the same goes for Bhoot Police’s characters. So the movie is expected to have a quirky theme with funny elements. More details are yet to come to the movie fans and a trailer is also expected to be dropped very soon on YouTube, so fans have to just sit tight and wait to know more. Earlier the movie was planned to premiere in September 2021 but now Bhoot Police will be seen on the infamous digital platform Disney+ Hotstar. Producer Ramesh Taurani gave ETimes an interview where he talked about the movie’s release and more. He went on and told the magazine that he struck a good deal with Disney+Hotstar.
“I have got a good deal. I do not discuss money in the public domain but I can tell you that I have not been shortchanged.” In the meantime, Kriplani discussed his directorial movie saying, “I am thrilled to have Saif and Arjun come together for this entertaining feature.” Bhoot Police is all packed and ready to hit the OTT on September 17th. Although we still don’t know when the film’s trailer will be released but it is expected anytime soon now. Kareena Kapoor also shared her husband’s first look on her Instagram and wrote, “Don’t fear the paranormal and feel ‘Saif’ with VIBHOOTI. #BhootPolice coming soon on Disney+ Hotstar.” Saif is seen in an all-black outfit while he holds a spooky weapon and smirks on the camera. Soon the makers will release a synopsis of the movie, but this is all we know so far.
