Earlier this week after Epic Games released a digital payment scheme that eliminates existing app store regulations (30% of in-game sales purchases), Apple and Google dropped Fortnite from both the operating system stores. You don’t have to read all 61 papers to realize that what Epic is trying to do here with this move, as they are not asking for any type of rewards or money, but only the “legislative action,” against Apple and probably Google, to eliminate this dominance (that will be a different lawsuit if Google actually bans Fortnite from Android).
Apple and Google both agreed on the same thing that Epic Games has enabled a payment feature in its Fortnite game without information either of them. Also, they quoted that this payment system or method was not approved by the respective app stores. Keeping the security of users into perspective, both Apple Inc. and Google Inc. asked Epic either to remove the direct payment system from their game or allow them to get their commissions for the payments made in the game.
Meanwhile, the Fortnite’s current season of the game is finishing in two weeks. For all on iOS, the regular update won’t launch the new season because the game is no longer available in its app store. And now millions of iOS players won’t even be able to play the new season of the game when it is released.
