Netflix’s official Youtube channel officially released this 2-minute-10-second trailer. The video crossed 4 million views in the first 12 hours of its release, beginning at a detention center where James Cosmo’s character is seen to have an unfriendly conversation with someone over the phone where he’s explaining the reason behind his disagreement with that particular person. The whole trailer video mainly talks about Tamilians and their separation between homes. It seems that the theme of Jagame Thandhiram concerns the subject of immigrants who live in London.
The film is directed by Karthik Subbaraj, and the trailer shows you an intriguing story nourished with Dhanush’s signature humor. Promoted as another gangster flick, it is all set to release on Netflix on June 18, 2021. The movie has a vibrant cast with the main actor Dhanush co-starring with talented names like Joju George, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Kalaiyarasan, among others. But a unique addition to this great cast is actor James Cosmo, who has been part of international projects such as Games Of Thrones, Braveheart, Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, Troy and Outlaw King, and others. Jagame Thandhiram is his first movie in India. On Tuesday, director Karthik Subbaraj took to Twitter to announce the release of the trailer of the much awaited film, Jagame Thandhiram.
The trailer depicts Dhanush in his iconic avatar with laughs, humor, and an intense action scene, all together with the actor’s most loved dance moves. So Jagame Thandhiram features every element of a typical Dhanush-starrer movie, showing one-liners, dance moves, high energy fights, humorous sequences, and the actor’s brilliant mesmerizing acting skills that make him a star in the south. In the trailer video, Dhanush is shown as a nomadic gangster who works with the global mafia and revolves around his dilemma of being allies with them or rebelling against them. Dhanush and James Cosmo’s characters are presented as ‘like brothers’ in this closed-to-perfect trailer, which ends in almost two-and-a-half minutes. But the Jagame Thandhiram trailer eventually unfolds an engaging storyline; Dhanush playing the character of a gangster from Madurai, Tamil Nadu, who is chosen by London-based mob boss Peter for his dirty work, played by James Cosmo.
Peter’s aim is to infiltrate the ranks of his rival gangster leader Sivadoss, which is played by Joju George. Suruli is described as the “original gangster” in Jagame Thandhiram’s trailer and features some intense fight scenes with the gangster who is a smug man and not scared of making mistakes, as he himself says in the trailer. Earlier Jagame Thandhiram was planned to be released in cinemas in India but the pandemic bailed on it, so the makers sought Netflix to release this multi-starrer movie online. Dhanush shared the trailer of Jagame Thandhiram on Twitter and wrote, “What would have been a great theatrical experience coming to Netflix. Nevertheless hope you all enjoy jagame thandhiram and suruli @karthiksubbaraj @Music_Santhosh.” Written and directed both by Karthik Subbaraj, Jagame Thandhiram also features Mollywood diva Aishwarya Lekshmi and Sanchana Natrajan as the female lead actresses.
