Netflix is Testing New “Shuffle Play” Feature Worldwide on TV

The most popular streaming platform Netflix has launched a worldwide test of a new feature called “Shuffle Play” that could assist you to discover something to watch in case you’re feeling sunken with your streaming providers. The Netflix has confirmed that they are testing a feature that puts a big Shuffle Play button Right on your Netflix home screen which is under the user profile icon.

New Shuffle play feature of Netflix will helps its users to pick a random title of a movie or TV series based on their watching history, what genre they prefer and the titles they’ve saved on “My List” section. The New feature is to provide Netflix users a new way to spend more time and watch more content on the platform, even the users don’t know what exactly they want to watch at that time.

Netflix Shuffle Play

This new Shuffle Play test is being tested only on TVs and the test is being run worldwide with selected users. If you are lucky enough then you might be in this testing. To know if you are among those users or not, go to profile selection screen and look for the Shuffle Play button or a Play Something option in the sidebar menu of Netflix TV app.

In a statement to Variety, a Netflix said “The purpose of the test is to make it easier for members to find something to watch”. The Company plans to learn from these tests and come up with “Shuffle Play” feature permanently which will be rolled out for each user worldwide. The company added “The hope is to absolutely productize something,”.

Netflix first tested similar features back in 2019 on Android App with a Random Episode button which was available for selected TV Shows. After that they began a second round of testing with Shuffle Play in July 2020 worldwide.
