Academy (Oscar Award) awards are regarded as the most prestigious award in the entertainment industry. The first Academy Awards presentation lasted less than half an hour, and awards were given in twelve categories. The eligibility period was 1 August 1927 to 1 August 1928 but the ceremony didn’t take place until May 1929 (and all the winners had been announced to the press weeks earlier). All the winners were silent movies, but a special award was given to Warner Bros’ The Jazz Singer – the first Hollywood film released to the public with synchronized sound. Academy awards get better recognition instantly, possibly earn a lot more than you previously were & get way better movie parts. It’s more or less like an exclusive club where everyone wants to get in but most of them end up waiting outside in the queue for a very long time.
Some of them even die waiting. And the ones who manage to get in, we are pretty positive they have the party of their lives. Supposedly Reese Witherspoon became one of the highest-paid actresses posts ‘Walk the Line’ Oscar. She charges like 20 million per movie now. And also the quality of the filmography becomes better than it used to be. Notable examples are Jennifer Lawrence, Oliver Stone, Late Philip Seymour Hoffman, and so many others. In the list, some of the movies are satirical comedies, and “Don’t look up” is one of those movies. Comedies are always disrespected and discounted, not only by the Academy but everywhere, because a sizable number of people resent laughing. To laugh is to admit that someone thought of something you didn’t; it’s the forced acknowledgment that someone is smarter than you are. People who feel insecure about their intelligence (that includes many smart people) enjoy laughing. But afterward, feel humbled or abused. And so they immediately start convincing themselves that what was brilliant was silly and that the reason they laughed wasn’t that something was smart but that it was so charmingly stupid. So you get condescending reviews by critics who spent two hours laughing their heads off. And you have people walking out of brilliant comedies with a dumbfounded smirk saying. Difficult for fans to see the best of the best movies on TV now unless they subscribe to Netflix, Disney, Amazon, Hulu, HBO, and also they cannot go to the cinema during Covid. This is an incredible day for Japan’s Drive My Car getting Best Picture, Director, and Adapted Screenplay nominations. It’s such a beautiful contemplative internal drama that 5 years ago would never get recognized. Now coming to the list of Best Actors, these are the nominations-

We hope benedict or Andrew takes home best actor. People feel that their performances are really good and the films wouldn’t be what they are with them, Will smith was also great and long overdue for an Oscar but we don’t think it will be able to beat Andrews or Benedict this year. We all love Denzel Washington (referring to The Tragedy of Macbeth), unless they are specifically trained to do Shakespeare, their performances tend to feel awkward because the language of Shakespeare relies on enunciation, cadence, and rhythm which is more naturally akin to British actors – just our humble opinion, no offense Denzel or Ms. McDormand. The cinematography in The Tragedy of Macbeth is radiant.
Anyone who hasn’t seen this please seek this out near any local independent theaters. This is partially why the Oscars exist to shine a spotlight on films, the majority of the public doesn’t know about. Married couple Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz are both nominated in different movies! Both Spiderman stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Andrew Garfield were nominated also for different movies. Even with those nominations, that will NOT boost box office for that outdated musical West Side Story, just like La La Land a few years back. Al Pacino (Scarface) has also been nominated this year, we’d like to see the outcome. On the other hand, Jeremy irons were most deserving for “House of Gucci” along with him AL PACINO for “House of Gucci” or JARED LETO for “House of Gucci” (Spoiler-Alert!): It wasn’t until an hour into the film that viewers had noticed “Is that Jared Leto?” after seeing a close-up of his face and eyes. Ms. Francis Mcdormand is one of the most influential and most Academy award-winning actresses in the world and whenever she appears in a movie then there are chances that she will get nominated for Oscars. Most probably she will win the Oscar too and lead the line of actresses in the Academy. It’s kind of a good thing for Gaga not to get nominated in long run for her career. Cause she’ll choose her next role more carefully, while having her performance done with more sophisticated acting skills plus the most important thing, don’t over campaign! Congratulations to all nominees. The Power of the Dog or Drive My Car will win the best picture. Jane Campion is the frontrunner for best directing. We hope Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman could win the best actor and best actress.
Kodi Smit-McPhee is likely to win best supporting actor and we hope Kirsten Dunst could win best-supporting actress. Drive My Car is likely to win the best international feature film and could also win the best-adapted screenplay. The funny thing about the Oscar is the majority of the movie nobody likes, it’s like a paid advertisement to you go and watch the movie. Kristen deserves the nomination and we feel really bad for the hate she gets. She has participated more in mediocre films, but in Spencer, it emerged that she is a great actress.
