Rohit Sharma is all set to join the Indian squad for the Test series in Australia. He passed the fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. Rohit will now have to get clearance from the national selectors to join the Indian squad in Australia. The third and fourth Tests are likely to be played at the end of the 14-day compulsory quarantine period if the selectors give the green signal to catch a flight to Down Under.
Earlier in the day, Rohit passed the fitness test at the NCA under the supervision of Rahul Dravid. The physio declared him fit after a fitness test after a hamstring injury in the IPL 2020. The Indian team’s ‘hitman’ arrived at the NCA in Bangalore on November 19. His fitness test was scheduled in advance.
Sources said that Rohit is fit for international cricket. According to sources, Rohit has passed the fitness test and the selection committee and the BCCI have decided on the next steps. Rohit was not included in the squad for the first tour of Australia due to a hamstring injury. The BCCI later announced his inclusion in the squad.
A statement on November 9 said the board’s medical team was monitoring Rohit’s fitness and had informed the selection committee. After discussions with Rohit, it has been decided to rest him for one day and T20 series in Australia. He was also told to join the Test squad.
The Indian players who participated in the IPL final on November 10 in the United Arab Emirates have been included in the national team’s bio-bubble ever since. Rohit returned to the country and later went to the NCA for rehab in hamstring.
